In January 2010, the Welsh Assembly Minister for Rural Affairs announced that a "limited cull" of badgers would take place in Pembrokeshire starting in May in an attempt to control the spread of tuberculosis (bTB) in cattle. On May 20th, the new coalition in Westminster announced that they would "introduce a carefully managed and science-led policy of badger control in areas with high and persistent levels of bovine tuberculosis". But are these decisions REALLY about good science, or could there be a more cynical reason for these announcements?
