Saving the Blue-throated Macaw, Bolivia
The Critically Endangered Blue-throated Macaw is found in only one place on Earth: the Beni Savannas of Bolivia. This complex ecosystem of grasslands, marshes, forest islands and gallery forest is largely in the hands of cattle ranchers and every year untold habitat is lost to intentional burning for pastureland.

Seal Hunt
It was four decades ago that Brian Davies, our founder, pioneered the campaign to end the slaughter of baby seals in Canada. His work to expose the cruelty on the ice floes made headlines around the world, and the battle to save the seals became an icon for the animal protection movement.
In 1983, Brian’s work culminated in a historic victory when the European Union prohibited imports of the skins of newborn harp seals (whitecoats). Close on the heels of this success, the Canadian government bowed to the threat of a boycott of Canadian seafood products and banned the killing of whitecoats in 1987.

Badger Cull
Badgers. Those wonderful creatures, whose life is so often the centre piece in wildlife animal documentaries, are under threat of yet another cull in the hope of controlling the spread of bovine tuberculosis, even though the majority do not even carry the disease!
Although, badgers are protected under the Protection of Badgers Act (1992) there is a provision which allows badgers to be killed to prevent disease. In 1999 the Government carried out an appalling experiment (the Krebs experiment), to find out whether or not destroying badgers in controlled areas would result in fewer cases of bovine tuberculosis (TB) in cattle.

Bean Bag Wombat Appeal
Bean Bag: a 12 month old Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat was shot five times and left for dead. It is not unusual for wombats to be used as targets for cruel entertainment, nor is it unusual for these intelligent creatures to be buried alive or inhumanely treated. Culling, legal and illegal is real and happening everyday. Bean Bag has shown us it is time to stop and protect our wildlife, protect our wombats and treat them with the right to freedom...and the right to live.

Borneo Sun Bear Conservation
Borneo is home to the world’s smallest bear species, the little-known Malayan Sun Bear (Helarctos malayanus). Originally widespread throughout Southeast Asia, Borneo is now one of the few remaining strongholds for this jungle-dependent mammal. But its home is fast diminishing, with forest degradation and loss pushing this bear to the brink. These bears also continue to be threatened by illegal hunting and poaching for food and medicines, to prevent damage to crops and villages, and to capture small cubs for the pet trade. As a result, in Sabah alone, there are over 30 young orphaned bears living in captivity in small cages and with no access to the outdoors or the forest.
