Fight Illegal Wildlife Trade
Campaign Information
Name:
Fight Illegal Wildlife Trade
Description:
The illegal wildlife trade, second only to the international trade in illegal drugs and arms trafficking, is believed to be worth billions of dollars each year.

Driving the trade is human consumption for illegal animal skins and illegal animal products which is devouring the Earth’s living resources at an alarming rate. Globalization and worldwide economic growth is creating a level of consumer demand that is simply unsustainable.

We're fighting to save animals worldwide, but we need your help. Please click on the links to learn more, make a donation, and take action to end the illegal trade in wildlife!

What Are You Really Bringing Back With You From Vacation?

Each year millions of tourists travel to exotic locations to encounter wildlife, only to unwittingly bring home souvenirs made from endangered species.

Take the Think Twice pledge: Don't buy wildlife souvenirs.

Have you ever thought about what you — and the millions of other tourists who travel abroad every year — are really bringing back with you from your holiday?

Each year, customs officers seize thousands of wildlife items from travelers, many of them tourist souvenirs made from endangered or threatened species.  Examples include elephant ivory carvings and jewelry, tortoise and turtle shell accessories, big cat skins, reptile skin handbags, belts and shoes, porcupine quill coasters and lampshades, coral and shells, and many more.

Sadly, many tourists buying souvenirs made from wildlife have no idea that they have done anything wrong, often because these items are sold openly in resorts, airports, shops and markets — masking the bloody truth behind the wildlife trinkets being sold.

South African born actor, Arnold Vosloo, has joined forces with IFAW to champion the Think Twice campaign urging tourists not to buy souvenirs made from wildlife when on holiday.

The international cinema star and distinguished stage actor is a passionate and committed environmentalist. Join Arnold Vosloo in signing the Think Twice pledge.
